Purpose

To take the lead in creating and developing designs for web or browser based applications

Key Responsibilities
  • Proven and demonstrable experience of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JS frameworks and libraries (Vue, React)
  • Creation of compelling UI/UX designs across multiple devices
  • Wireframing and User Journey development
  • Provide estimates of complexity of User Stories and/or timescales of tasks as required
  • Functionally test any software developed before release
  • Connect to and query data from SQL databases (MS Access, SQL Server)
  • Read and process external data from Web Services/REST API's, XML, JSON, Text files etc.
  • Confirm and agree understanding of functional requirements with Project Managers
  • Liaise with other Designers to understand caption architecture
  • Provide feedback on progress of tasks to Project Managers
  • Identify and report risks during the development lifecycle
  • Monitor and flag feature variations during software development
  • Ensure Tasks are completed in a timely manner
  • Prepare and maintain AGILE/SCRUM User Stories
  • Participate in daily AGILE/SCRUM Stand ups
  • Create timesheets
  • Perform general admin tasks in a timely manner
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and other team activities
  • Follow Software Development coding practices and quality procedures
  • Adhere to all Company policies
  • Contribute to project success through positive attitude, commitment, contribution of ideas etc.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
  • Experience of graphic design applications
  • Creation of compelling graphics for web and browser-based applications
  • Experience of front end development languages
  • Exposure to data mark-up schemas (XML, JSON etc.)
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of relational databases & SQL
  • Experience Consuming Web Services
  • Exposure to TV/Broadcast Graphics production
  • Knowledge of/interest in Sports
  • Full driving licence

Computer Programmer

Purpose

To take responsibility for ongoing development and maintenance of bespoke desktop software applications used to control and manage production of TV Graphics for Live Sport Broadcasts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain existing systems developed in appropriate high level languages
  • Develop new functionality for existing systems using appropriate high level languages
  • Develop new applications as required using appropriate high level languages
  • Assist in migration from VB6 to VB.Net
  • Provide estimates of complexity of User Stories and/or timescales of tasks as required
  • Investigate, identify and fix bugs in software systems
  • Functionally test any software developed before release
  • Connect to and query data from SQL databases (MS Access, SQL Server)
  • Read and process external data from Web Services/REST API's, Text files etc.
  • Confirm and agree understanding of functional requirements with Project Managers
  • Provide support for live software, including weekends as rostered
  • Authority to make functional coding decisions in agreement with CSA and/or Development Team
  • Liaise with Graphic Designers to understand caption architecture
  • Provide feedback on progress of tasks to Project Managers
  • Identify and report risks during the development lifecycle
  • Monitor and flag feature variations during software development
  • Ensure Tasks are completed in a timely manner

Overview

Alston Elliot is looking to recruit a Product Co-ordinator to join an exciting new department within our UK organisation to assist with the development workflow for our bespoke TV sports graphics packages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with our Software & Design departments to best deliver our products.
  • Testing of graphics using various systems including Viz Trio, or our bespoke captions software.
  • Managing Fix Lists for bugs and changes that may be required.
  • Managing a centralised hub of media content and databases across all sports/broadcasters.
  • Cataloguing examples of new graphics for use in future tender pitches and style guides.
